I have a question regarding the usage of Oracle-Validated package. I have once used this method of installing rpms before. That was for the installation of 10g oracle.
Now I planned to install 11g on the same host where I installed Oracle-Validated already. So, shall I proceed installing 11g in the same host without running Oracle-Validated again?
However, I get prerequisite fails for some packages when attempted to install 11g on the same host.
Is oracle-validated installation common for all Oracle versions? (i.e) 10g, 11g etc.
What's your take on this Tim?
There are a few things to consider:
- Have you done an update of your OS recently (yum update or up2date). If not, you should before doing the new installation.
- Have you downloaded and applied the latest "oracle-validate" package. Like all other packages, it does get updates with new dependencies from time to time.
- I'm assuming you are running RHEL5/OL5. If you are using RHEL6/OL6, then the 10g installation is not support and "oracle-validated" has been superseded by the "oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall" package.
