Oracle installation on Unbrakeble 6 Linux

Postby aucevica » Wed Nov 06, 2013 7:30 pm

Hi Tim.

I´m installing Oracle 11r2 on OL6 box, but I´m having some problems:
1 - After finishing OL6 DATABASE SERVER installation many kernel parameters are different than they would be.
2 - I´m using GNOME as a graphical environment, (is it OK?) but when I run RunInstaller I get:
"... /usr/bin/xdpyinfo. Check if the DISPLAY..."
But this utility (xdpyinfo) does not exist. Why not?

I´ve already ran xterm + as root, set DISPLAY in many ways... and it still doesn´t work.

Best regards

Augusto :o

Hi.

Have to you followed all the suggestions here?

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/12c ... inux-6.php

This is how I install it every time and I *never* have any problems.

Regarding the installation, if you are logged in to the console as the "oracle" user, this will just work. If you are doing a "su - oracle", you have to take care of magic cookies.

Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately this machine is not conected on the Internet, so I can´t use yum before the local repository configuration.
I´ve been working to configure this repository but I can´t find a rpms download site.

Augusto

Hi.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you are not using the internet, then you need to use the RPMs from the Linux DVD.

Note. If you do this, you will have to deal with all the dependents manually. I suggest you make a Yum repository of the DVD contents.

It will make life a lot easier to install the packages.
