OS Upgrade

Hi Tim,

Unix team are going to upgrade the OS from AIX 5. to 6.1 with 11.2.0.1 RAC db running,Is it mandatory to relink the binaries after upgrade,i know oracle strongly suggest it do it .Generally do you do it after any os patches and upgrades?

I have read the ML Note 284785.1 which mentions about relink against Oracle RAC Binaries.Should this be only against RDBMS HOME (make -f ins_rdbms.mk rac_on ioracle) or GRID HOME as well?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi.

If Oracle recommend you do it, then you should. It will be against all Oracle homes on the box.

Make sure you run through all the installation prerequisites again before relinking. Often, different OS versions have different prerequisites.
