Postby adda.road@yahoo.com » Tue May 01, 2012 8:00 pm

Hi Tim,

I had only one set archive redologs .
In that one set some archive redologs are missing.

How can i recover the database?

my answer is only incomplete recovery until cancel .

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Hi.

If your datafile backups are newer than the missing archived redo logs, then a full recovery is possible.

If your datafile backups were taken before the missing archived redo logs, then you will only be able to recovery to the point in time before the first missing archived redo log. All data beyond that point will be lost. This is why archived redo logs are so important.

You can perform the recovery to a specific SCN, time or using the cancel option, but in all cases you must recovery to a point before the gap.

Cheers
