Problems installing Forms & Reports 11gR2 on Weblogic Server

Postby rshrinivasan » Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:04 pm

I am running into an issue while trying to install Forms & Reports on Weblogic Server 10.3.6

This is the sequence I followed for the install.
1. Install Weblogic Server. I followed the instructions here http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-weblogic-server-11gr1-1035-installation-on-oracle-linux-5-and-6-11gr1.php. I used JRockit for Java and the install went fine.
2. Install Forms & Reports 11gR2. I followed the instructions here -http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-forms-and-reports-11gr2-installation-on-oracle-linux-5.php. The install went fine until 92% and raised an error during relinking of SQL*Plus. The exact error was - Error in invoking target 'install' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/middleware/Oracle_FRHome1/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk'. The error in the log file is - [2013-03-21T09:34:21.337-07:00] [OUI] [NOTIFICATION] [] [OUI] [tid: 75] [ecid: 0000JqDnHWP3v185zjw0yW1HHoVd000012,0] /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lclntsh[[
3. I opened a SR with Oracle Support and support responded asking me to install gcc-32bit-4.3
4. The package was not available in Oracle's yum repository, so I tried installing it from the Internet, and ran into a lot of dependencies, so I stopped.
5. I have asked Oracle Support if they can suggest a place where I can get the gcc-32bit-4.3
6. Based on your response to my comment, I tried to install gcc.i686, but ran into an error - Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/libexec/getconf/default from install of gcc-4.4.7-3.el6.i686 conflicts with file from package gcc-4.4.7-3.el6.x86_64

Any help from your side is appreciated. Regardless of my problem, your instructions were very clear and easy to follow.

Thanks,
Ramesh

Hi.

I did a run through yesterday with JRockit and with Java7 JDK and all went well. You can see the write-up here:

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g ... inux-6.php

It includes some extra prerequisites that are not present in the OL6 installation.

I suggest you make sure those prerequisites are sorted and it should be fine.

Note. I've not had time to replace the screen shits with those from 11.1.2.1 F&RS, so don't be surprised if there are little difference there. I will replace them at the weekend. :)

Cheers

Right now Tim, I am feeling the same way about installing Forms and Reports, but if I understand you correctly, what you're asking me to do, is to exit the current install, and start from scratch again, right?.

LOL.

My typing is bad. :)

It's probably better to start clean. :)

Hi Tim,
I made some progress, but ran into further issues. Per your recommendation, I uninstalled both Weblogic and Forms and Reports. Re-installing got me past the linking error I was getting, but the install is now failing on the configuration step, specifically the Creating Reports Server Components part. The log says [SRC_METHOD: directoryIsPopulated] directoryIsPopulated found unexcluded file/dir: /u01/app/oracle/Middleware/asinst_1/bin, can't make head or tail out of the error. The /asinst_1/bin directory has files but these seem to be files that are used for forms compilation.

Hi.

OK. That sounds to me like you didn't clean up the installation properly.

The installation of everything is pretty quick. If I want to do a reinstall, I reboot the server then do this:

Code: Select all

rm -Rf /home/oracle/bea
cd /u01
rm -Rf *
mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/middleware

I then perform the install.

I'll be running though the install again this morning to get some new screen shots. I'll see if I come across any problems this time round.

Cheers

Hi Tim,
Sorry for the radio silence, but I was muddling through the install and config, every time I thought I fixed one problem, I ran into another. Finally, I think I got everything working. The problem I referenced in the earlier post was because the host name was defined with the domain information included, so it had periods and the default naming convention for reports server does not allow periods in the name. Once, I took care of that, then the reports server installed fine but I could not start the reports server because of firewall issues. I disabled the firewall and things worked fine, however I still need to figure out how to enable the firewall without the reports server complaining. Now I have to figure out how to install BI Publisher on Weblogic. You wouldn't happen to have one of your handy install docs. for BI Publisher, would you? :D

Thanks for all your help. I owe you a beer whenever I get a chance to meet you.

Regards,
Ramesh

Hi.

Unfortunately I don't have a guide for that.

Mark Rittman has some stuff on it:
