how to deinstall Oracle Client on Windows 7 after installing

Postby kytemaniac » Thu Mar 28, 2013 4:56 pm

Hi,

how to deinstall 32bit Oracle Client on Windows 7 after installing in the wrong directory.

here are the settings before I install 32 Oracle Client on Windows 7,
from regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->ORACLE->KEY_OraDb11g_home1

Code: Select all

ORACLE_BASE=E:\app\user

ORACLE_HOME=E:\app\user\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1

after I've installed the above settings remain the same.

I've installed 32 bit Oracle Client into C:\app\user\product\11.2.0\client_1
which is wrong based on the OFA architecture.

I''ve install all automation pl/sql developer, when I try to connect it always complain about ORA-12154, the reason being is that it is not able to find
tnsnames.ora file. The reason why it is not able to find tnsnames.ora is because Oracle 32 bit client is installed in the wrong directory.

I try to connect using sqlplus using both os authentication and service name, so OracleService<SID> is definitely started already.

based on http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/ins ... nstall.htm

here's my deinstallation details

Code: Select all

E:\download\oracle\rdbms\oracle-11gr2\win32_11gR2_client\win32_11gR2_deinstall\d
einstall>deinstall.bat -home E:\app\user\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1
Location of logs E:\download\oracle\rdbms\oracle-11gr2\win32_11gR2_client\win32_

Hi.

If you want to remove all Oracle software, then you can just hack it out like this:
