dual behaviour on OEM

Postby royalyogi » Tue Jun 18, 2013 3:49 pm

We have configured 15 Nos. oracle databases version 11.2.0.2 in OEM and agent version is also same 11.1.0.1 for all
Servers.

Problem: Performance Tab is enabled for some databases in OEM but also Performance Tab is disabled for some databases.
Why this dual behaviour on OEM since database and agent version is same here. Please help me here to understand this behaviour of OEM

Hi.

Are they all running Enterprise Edition and licensed for the Diagnostics and Tuning Pack? Both of these are requirements for using the performance pages. If you don't have the licenses you shouldn't be using them anyway!

If both the above are true, check the preferences to see if any of the packs have been switched off in the setup.

Note. You should really turn of OEM and use Cloud Control instead. The local version of OEM has been removed from 12c.

Cheers

All are licensed standard version database and checked all parameters are also same. Since all the databases are recently created by default.
But my question is same as previous. Why performance Tab is enabled for some databases on OEM and but some databases it is disabled?

Compared the two databases where Performance Tab is enabled and disabled.
Found below parameters are differ

1.) Performance Tab is disabled for this database PRIYA
===========================
*.db_name='PRIYA'
*.db_domain=''
*.nls_language='ENGLISH'
*.nls_territory='UNITED KINGDOM'
*.shared_servers=10

2.) Performance Tab is enabled for this database SRIYA
========================================
*.db_name='SRIYA'
*.control_management_pack_access='DIAGNOSTIC'
*.db_block_checksum='FALSE'
*.db_domain='PRDIA.co.uk'
*.undo_retention=2000
*.utl_file_dir='E:\files'

But do you think any above parameters can enabled/disabled the Performance Tab in OEM?

Hi.

Standard Edition can not use the diagnostics and tuning packs. These options are only available as a paid option on top of Enterprise Edition.

The option packs can be disabled in the OEM interface itself, in the preferences section, but OEM will also honour the database setting for the option packs. To see the performance home you will need one of the following at the database level.

Code: Select all
control_management_pack_access='DIAGNOSTIC'
control_management_pack_access='DIAGNOSTIC+TUNING'

But as I said, diagnostics and tuning are separately licensed options of Enterprise Edition. Attempting to use them if you have not paid for them is illegal. They can not be legally enabled with Standard Edition, Standard Edition One or Oracle XE.

Cheers
