Character set migration in 11g

Postby Raaj A » Fri Apr 04, 2014 7:42 am

Hi Tim,

I was doing character set migration from we8mswin1252(11.1.0.6.0) to al32utf8(11.2.0.4) using CSSCAN and CSALTER with the help of steps given in oracle base.
While running csscan got an error.
ORA-30967: operation directly on the Path Table is disallowed
CSS-00144: failed to scan table XDB.XDBACL_PATH_TAB
While running csalter in db restrict mode, got the message "CSALTER finished unsuccessfully."

I did lot of google but did not get proper clue why i am getting this error.

Please help.

Thanks
Raaj.

Hi.

I'm a bit confused how you are doing a character set conversion from one version to another. :) Are you doing an upgrade or a character set conversion. One or the other?

Cheers

Hi Tim,

Sorry by mistake i wrote wrongly.
(Actually i took export from (11.1.0.6) char set we8mswin1252 and imported on (11.2.0.4) char set al32utf8 but due to character set mismatch few rows were not imported. So i planned to do migration from we8mswin1252 to al32utf8 on source 11g(11.1.0.6) and while doing so got below error.

While running csscan got an error.
ORA-30967: operation directly on the Path Table is disallowed
CSS-00144: failed to scan table XDB.XDBACL_PATH_TAB
While running csalter in db restrict mode, got the message "CSALTER finished unsuccessfully."

Unable to rectify this issue. Where to find why this issue is coming?
Please help.

Thanks

Hi.

Have you considered excluding the XDB schema? This is an internal schema. If you are not using XDB, there will be nothing there you need to move across...

If you don't want to do this, then I would raise an SR with Oracle Support and see what they say...

Cheers

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your help. Please show some light on below.
How to exclude XDB schema during CSSCAN process. Because this error is coming while csscan stage and after that CSALTER ends unsuccessfully.

Thanks
Raaj

Hi.

You misunderstand my point. Originally you were doing an export/import to move the data, but some of the data was failing during the process because of the implicit character set conversion. Can you exclude those objects from your export/import, assuming they are not necessary...
