JVM mem usgae going high Oracle 10g AS

Postby Rijo Roy » Mon Sep 23, 2013 6:36 am

Hi Tim

I don't know whether I should post my doubt in this PL/SQL Dev forum or not but I have gone through your page showing OC4J notes which was helpful for me in my day to day activities. I am not much of a OC4J guy since my major interests are in DB,RAC...

For the past 3 days one of my portal JVM is using high memory as per the script written to monitor the OC4J instances memory usage where the threshold is kept as 3000000 and the memused for one of the JVM's(4 JVM's are there) is 3836336.

My hardware configuration is
Itanium Processor
RAM= 16G
Swap= 32G

Software version
Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.4.0) (build 080709.0800.28953)

Kindly let me know whether the memory usage is high as per the figures mentioned. If so can you give me an idea to modulate it.

How is the memusage represented in temns of bytes/KB/MB/GB? So that I can give an idea of the same to my Team who handles the hardware.

Thanks & Regards

Rijo

Hi.

The amount of memory used by a JVM is dependent on the Heap size specified for the container. You might find it useful to read this.

http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/mis ... -jstat.php

It is about Tomcat, the the settings for the JVM are the same.

Cheers
