moving data

Hi
Tim,
I have installed oracle 11g with orcl2 as database name and I have created some users and few tables inside them Now I want to re-install the oracle 11g how can i take the back up
kindly explain right from scratch with each step

Hi.

If it is something small, it is probably best you do a full database export, then an import once you are finished.

I am going to re-install oracle 11g will it work and i want to move users as well as tables also.

Hi.

Yes. Do a full export. Keep a copy of the resulting dump file. Do your reinstall, create a new instance, then import the dump file into that new instance.

Note. You should always test stuff before doing it for real, so you will know exactly if it works for you or not, before you actually trash something you care about. :)
