i currently have experience w/a couple of introduction to oracle sql release 8.1.5 courses for work. in the future i want to complete the oracle9i ocp certification.

i have several oracle8 books

*Oracle8 DBA handbook (oracle press)
*Advanced Oracle PL/SQL programming w/packages (o'reilly)
*Oracle8 concepts vol 1 & 2

so...are these books a good place to start...or should i get some others.

Hi.

If 9i certification is your goal you need to get some new books. There are substantial differences between 8 and 8i, and even more from 8i to 9i.

You have a choice here. You can use the Oracle manuals to get your information:

http://tahiti.oracle.com

This is quite a dry and long-winded way of going about it. Alternatively you can buy some certification guides which more directly erlate to the OCP exams:

http://www.oracle-base.com/misc/ocp-certification.php

Remember, passing an exam and being good at your job are two different things. I like to think of OCP as the start of a learning process, not a goal in itself.

Good luck.
