Please help me to resolve this matter

Postby peters » Tue Apr 10, 2007 6:41 am

hi
I am doing some studies related to ORACLE 10g OCA and OCP. Recently I received two books from one of my friends and they are OCA and OCP study guides.
Both books talk about a database 10g (10.1.0.2) and I know this is 10g release 1. But the latest oracle 10g is release 2. My qustion is whether I have to buy new books that are specifically written for 10g release 2 or can I use the two books got from my friend and get ready for the OCA and OCP exams ... Please help me to resolve this matter soon
thanks
Peter :)

Hi.

Typically, the OCP exams only reference the basic functionality available in the first release of the database, so you should be able to pass using those study guides.

To be sure, it would be advisable to contact Oracle University, to see if the exams have been revised to include 10gR2 information.

Cheers

hi tim
Thanks for the reply and valuable info...
I checked the following website

http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_pro ... id=1Z0_042

and found the following

Recommended Training and Preparation
The exam that will be in effect through October 31, 2006 has been validated against Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Database 10g R2 and is compatible with both. Classroom training, practice and experience on either release is suitable preparation. Starting November 1, 2006 the focus of the exam will be solely on Oracle Database 10g R2, and new topics will be introduced. The new topics are footnoted in the Exam Objectives

So it looks like I have to get new books which are written for 10gR2. Please check ....

Hi.

If that's what Oracle University say it must be true. They are the guys who produce the exams.

Cheers

There is no changes on exams of Oracle 10G OCP and OCA

Postby patrickwang72 » Mon Apr 16, 2007 7:43 pm

Hi,
I just passed the 10g OCA and OCP exams at beginning of this year in canada. (The oracle said the exams questions were changed on Last novemner.)I didn't find any question relating only to Oracle 10g R2. So, the exam preparation books you now have should be fine.
From my experience, the book poublished by Oracle Press is much better than that by Sybex.
The all-in-one exam guide from Oracle press is now available at
