Wrong link in Oracle website..

Postby josephkarthic » Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:54 am

Hi tim,

I was searching the oracle website to search the cert exams for oracle 9i OCA/OCP but i found the information is incorrect..

For all these 4 course i find only this link which is confusing which exam is for what?

http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_pro ... age_id=155

1)Oracle PL/SQL
Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA

2)Oracle PL/SQL
Advanced Developer OCP

3)Oracle Forms
Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA

4)Oracle Forms
Oracle Forms Developer OCP

Also can u pls tell me the difference between Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Forms, And which one is best to choose? I find oracle pl/sql advanced developer is for 11g db...is tht right?

Hi.

Once you are "Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" you can do one of two things to become an OCP:

1) "Oracle Forms: Build Internet Applications 1Z0-141" to become an "Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional".

2) "Oracle PL/SQL Developer 1Z0-146" to become an "Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional".

They are variants of the same track, hence they are on the same page.

Cheers

Hi.

Neither Forms or straight PL/SQL is better or worse. They are just different. If you know you will be working with Oracle Forms, then this certification is of value to you. If not, then the PL/SQL may be better as it applies to more development roles where Oracle Forms are not used.

The advanced developer exam contains many things that are new to 11g, but it's not an 11g only exam. It simply contains more advanced topics than the previous exams, so of which are from 11g.

There are several ways to get the OCA certification. Probably the most common is:

- 1Z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL
- 1Z0-147 Program with PL/SQL

The first exam can be taken online.

Once you've completed these exams you can considergoing for the full OCP in either the forms of PL/SQL tracks.

Cheers
