OracleDB11gR2RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVirtualBox "2"

Postby nyoskar » Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:30 pm

Hi.

I recently install Rac on my computer.

When I check the envirorment, i see that I changed one parameter in node2

ORACLE_SID=ASM2

My question is: This parameter affects all installation???
because the ASM started processes in node2 are like this "smon_+ASM2"

Thanks.

Hi.

If you are using ASM, you will have both ASM and database processes running on each node, so it would not be unusual to see processes running with ASM2 in the name on node 2.

Typically the installation ignores the ORACLE_SID environment variable, so it is unlikely to have a negative effect if it is set incorrectly.

Do you have processes running for the database also?

Cheers

Ok thank you.

Yes I have all processes from my database called "rac"

I thought that the ORACLE_SID parameter from my envirorment affects the installation process, but with your explanation I understood everything.

Thanks Tim.
