clong rac database

Postby adda.road@yahoo.com » Tue May 01, 2012 7:54 pm

Hi tim ,

What is difference between cloning stand alone and rac database?

what are different things to consider when cloning rac database?

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

The processes are pretty similar because you are cloning the database and whether you have RAC or a single instance, there is still only one database.

The main difference is you will have to amend the contents of the SPFILE/PFILE to remove the cluster related parameters. There is an example of it here:

Hi.

I think I misread your original post. For some reason I was thinking you were asking to clone a RAC database to a non-RAC database. I've just reread your post and I can see it is not the case, so you can ignore that comment.

Cheers

Hi.

If the destination server is the same structure as the primary server, you don't need to change anything. If the paths are different, like a different disk group names, then you will need to use the convert parameters, as shown in the article.
