Abnormal trace file generation in oracle 11gRAC

Postby aunshakeel » Wed Jan 16, 2013 8:08 am

I am facing this problem for some time now ….. i am having trouble with trace files on only one node ….

SYSTEM DETAILS
i have a 2 node production server …
IBM power 7 P750 servers
oracle version 11.2.0.3 RAC
RMAN not yet configured but logged in once to delete archiving logs

The issue is that on node 2 the trace files are generating on a huge level and i have to manually delete them every 2 hours other wise the space is filling up fast. And to add to my misery the trace files are generating in two separate locations

One location is the default oracle location folder which has a space of 200 gb and it is some how manageable by adrci

The main issue with me is that some files are getting created in the '/var' folder under '/tmp/oradiag_oracle/../../..' forlder also

and this /var folder is only 5 gb

if i ignore it for one hour the space reaches 100%

i am trying to find what traces are enabled on the system so i can disable any unwanted traces.

Can anyone help me by telling me how to check for enable tracing events and how to disable them manually

Thank you .

Hi.

You've not said what the tracing is or what's generating it. You mentioned the "default oracle location folder". Do you mean "/home/oracle"? Nothing should be tracing there.

Cheers

hello Mr. Tim,
Well i refer to the files as trace files coz the file extensions are *.trc and *.trm.
i have not enabled any tracing that is why i am shocked how the files are generating on a large scale.
the files are generating in two separatae places
First is the oracle installation directory /u0/app/oracle
and the second is /var/tmp/oradiag_oracle/cdiag/rdbms/clients/user_oracle/host_xxxxxxxx

Hi.

OK. So they are Oracle trace files then. :)

My next question would be, have you checked the alert log to see if it mentioned why these trace files are getting generated. If they are being caused by an error, it should be logged in the alert log.

At the same time I would consider raising an SR with Oracle support about the excessive tracing. This may be a known issue on your platform.

Cheers

i would like to add a couple of points here.
1. these trace files have no mention in my original alert log file. However there is log file in the trace folder in the /var filesystem where only this error is logged.

2. here is the complete trace file output.

Re: Abnormal trace file generation in oracle 11gRAC

Postby Tim... » Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:39 pm

Hi.

OK. This is an ORA-07445. Like ORA-00600 it is an internal error, so something out of the ordinary is happening. The action associated with 7445 and 600 errors is to contact Oracle support. They will diagnose the problem.

There is a lookup forms on MOS you might want to use to see if your problem is a known bug.

thanks for t he reply Mr Tim,
Yes i have already searched at that tool and nothing significant came up.
the closest hit was something bout re-linking binaries to OS.
I have already created n SR to see if there is solution. it is severity 2 SR but in 3 days i have only seen different people posting that the SR is assigned to them and they are reviewing it

Hi.

Well, if the lookup doesn't return anything, it is likely to be a new issue/bug. Not much anyone other than Oracle can do to help you with that.

If it is causing a problem you could always get the SR escalated to a higher priority.

Cheers

Hi Mr. Tim,
I would like to ask you a couple of questions here.
1) What is the use of the following parameters if i add them in the sqlnet.ora and listener.ora files
DIAG-ADR_ENABLED=off
diag_dde_enabled=off

2) Do i have to restart the database to make these changes have any impact???

Hi.

You need to read these:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/net ... m#NETRF399
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/app ... LNOCI16760

They are sqlnet.ora parameters, not initialization parameters, so they don't require a database restart.

Cheers
