Thread/block error when opening Oracle 9i database

Postby Guest » Mon Nov 01, 2004 6:09 pm

When I try to open the Oracle database, I get the following error:

ORA-01172: recovery of Thread 1 stuck at block 105 of file 2
ORA-01151: use media recovery to recover block, restore backup if needed.

I am able to mount the database but not open it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do what the message says! Either restore the whole file from a backup ans recover it or do a block media recovery. The database will not open until this is done.

Alternatively, if file 2 is a non-system datafile you may be able to offline it and start the database, but the recovery will have to happen before the datafile can be onlined.
