Oracle 11.1 docs: "The default is NOREPAIR"
Oracle 11.2 docs: "The default is NOREPAIR"
Both sets of docs say it is the default.

I think it's wrong in Sam Alapati's book.
Looking through the docs, it appears that the REPAIR option was the default in 10.1 and 10.2, but in 11.x it was switched to NOREPAIR.
I guess he's not realized the switch has been made. Changes to default settings are really to miss. :)

after 20,000 extent its 4*AU and not 8*AU
1-20,000 Equal to AU
20,000-39,999 Equal to 4*AU
above 40,000 16*AU
Please correct me if I am wrong.
The article was written against 11.1, where it was 1,8,64. In 11.2 that was changed to 1,4,16. I've made a note of this in the article.
Thanks for the heads-up. :)

Regarding the preferred read feature: Be careful with Flex ASM 12.1 and extended cluster.
