SYS_OP_MAP_NONNULL is also very useful, aka

select *
from BLAH
where sys_op_map_nonnull(nullable_col) != sys_op_map_nonnull(other_nullable_col)

"It is possible to make this happen using the NVL and DECODE functions, but this relies on you converting the null value..."

See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/functions040.htm
"In a DECODE function, Oracle considers two nulls to be equivalent."

DECODE(A, B, 1, 0) = 1
is equivalent to
A = B OR (A IS NULL AND B IS NULL)

Hi.

Correct. I've even given an example of it earlier. :) I've altered the wording slightly and put in another example to show that variation of the usage.
