There have been a couple of posts about the latest release of Oracle Database 23ai Free. First I saw Gerald Venzl with this post, talking about the latest version of the Docker image.

Next was Jeff Smith with his post about the VirtualBox image.

Prompted by these I re-downloaded 23ai Free from here. The file name is unchanged, which might cause some confusion. I installed it, and sure enough it was version 23.5.
If you want to use Docker or the prebuilt VirtualBox image, you know where to look. Alternatively you can use my Vagrant builds to set up a test environment.

As yet there is still no sign of the full on-prem release of 23ai, but the free version will allow you to play with most of the features of the new release. You can see my all articles here.
