Re: ORA-00445: background process "q00O" did not start after

Hi.

No. Do not attempt to upload the file here.

Most of the trace files are full of stuff Oracle run tools against to decipher. There are bits that are human readable. You should read these as they may help you diagnose this for yourself.

Re: PL/SQL Procedure simple practise

Hi.

In my current company the coding standard states that you *must* use explicit cursors. I do not follow that coding standard! :)

Re: Practicing Enterprise Manager Console from Sqlplus

The first time Oracle introduced a consistent and (near) complete API for interactive with any EM-style product was in Cloud Control. Anything prior to Cloud Control, there is complete API. There are a few packages on the database that contains "some" functionality, but in no way a complete API. Wha...

Re: Practicing Enterprise Manager Console from Sqlplus

Hi.

No.

If you were using Cloud Control there is a command line interpreter (CLI). For the old DB Console there is not.

Re: Database backup location

Hi.

Like I said, it is impossible for me to comment because I don;t know any thing about the DBs, server resources, storage throughput etc. It might be fine. It might cause your system to have terrible performance. Impossible for me to know.

Hi.

Look at my example. It's not an "EXPLAIN PLAN FOR". You have to actually run the statement...

Re: PL/SQL Procedure simple practise

Hi. 1) I agree with SuperMack. This would be much simpler to read and work faster. create or replace procedure getemp (pdeptno emp.deptno%type ) as begin for cur_rec in (select ename, sal from emp where deptno=pdeptno) loop DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('employee name is:' ||cur_rec.ename); DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_...

Re: Database backup location

Hi. I can not suggest because I know nothing about your setup. If they are two little DBs that do not share storage on a powerful machine, backing them up together will be fine. If not, time the backup of DEMO_1. Scheduler the backup of DEMO_2 to start after the first backup is finished. I think you...

Re: PL/SQL Procedure simple practise

Hi. You are using the cursor for loop incorrectly. The index variable (cur_rec) is the rowtype in this case. for cur_rec in (select * from emp) loop dbms_output.put_line('employee no '|| cur_rec.empno); dbms_output.put_line('the name of employee is:'|| cur_rec.ename); dbms_output.put_line('job of th...
