GUI - Diplay configuration issue on Linux Oracle 6.4

Postby Yash » Wed Jan 01, 2014 4:24 pm

Hi There,

I'm following the steps installing 12c RAC on virtual box as per the below article. ... ualbox.php

I am not able to start the XWindow/GUI on a guest system (Oracle Linux 6.4) running on Host windows 7.

I have completed all pre-requisite steps as per the article

[oracle@ol6-121-rac1 grid]$ ./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

Checking Temp space: must be greater than 120 MB. Actual 18618 MB Passed
Checking swap space: must be greater than 150 MB. Actual 991 MB Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors
>>> Could not execute auto check for display colors using command /usr/bin/xdpyinfo. Check if the DISPLAY variable is set. Failed <<<<

Some requirement checks failed. You must fulfill these requirements before

continuing with the installation,

Continue? (y/n) [n] n

User Selected: No

Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at /tmp/OraInstall2014-01-01_11-20-39AM/installActions2014-01-01_11-20-39AM.log

[oracle@ol6-121-rac1 grid]$ echo $DISPLAY

[oracle@ol6-121-rac1 grid]$ xclock
Error: Can't open display: ol6-121-rac1.localdomain:0.0

Can you please suggest how to troubleshoot this as this is required by runInstaller to run in GUI mode.

What do you mean you are not able to access the GUI? Did you not install the OS as explained in the article?
