Thanks for this article. But I have a request for you.
Please post an article with with following configuration.
oracle database instance, apex 5.0 with oracle data services and weblogic server to deploy ords application.
My site is full of Oracle installation guides, so that is covered. This is the APEX 5 installation. So that is done. I've got an article about deploying ORDS to Tomcat. Never done it to WebLogic.
As it stands, most of your requests are covered here already.
Hello Tim , to finish running the installation steps you make , entering the address Apex and I requested authentication on the " xdb " server, and tested with all the credentials database and I can not enter the environment Apex .
Need: User and password, message from server XDB.
Please, how i can solved this authentication.
Thanks for help!
I'm guessing from your message you are using the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway, so you must complete the "Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) Configuration" section to allow access to APEX.

Yes, i no execute all tips.
Exactly "update images".
I share you tips for install in one forum latin for help.
I apologize for my English , it's bad .
Have a nice day!
Actually I have upgraded oracle(11g) apex 5 from apex 4 at windows platform. After these migration my application working very slow as compare to apex 4. So please can you suggest me how to resolve this performance issue.
I'll email... :)
Marcelo Santos said...In create tablespace clausule, we need to specify the datafile name, as the following statement:
CREATE TABLESPACE apex DATAFILE 'apex.dbf' SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1M;
Without this we got the following error:
CREATE TABLESPACE apex DATAFILE SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1M
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02236: invalid file name
That's because you are not using Oracle Managed Files (OMF). :)

I have completed until Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) Configuration
the accessed the URL it is throwing error
Hard to know.
- Check listener is up.
- Redo post-install config steps again. They can be rerun.
- Check you opened port.
- Check listener status. The port you opened should be visible as a listening endpoint.

Not enough information... You've not mentioned how you are deploying it (ORDS, EPG, mod_plsql). Sounds like whichever you've done, you've not completed the prerequisites.
Marcelo Santos said...Great Article Tim! I was able to install apex with no issues at all. How I can pay you a beer? :-)
Great news. I donate my beer to you. Enjoy. :)
Marcelo Santos said...Tim, I don't know if I can ask here about this, please forgive-me if that I'm asking is wrong: after I install Apex, I connected to Internal workspace, and when I try to create another workspace, I end with the following error:
"Error Provisioning TEST
ORA-20001: Request... could not be processed. PROVISION_COMPANY"
This happens either in 5.0.4 or in 5.1.1 Apex version.

I have the same issue during workspace creation, did you solve your problem?
ANDY said...I upgraded from apex 5.0 to 18.1, i follow our step in upgrade..but once i login in apex page..error processing request..ora-1031 insufficient privileges.. how to resolve to this error? thanks!
I guess my first thought would be to check for invalid objects in the database. If APEX is being fronted by ORDS, you will need to run ORDS Validate to reconfigure some bits after the upgrade, as noted in the article.
Viacheslav Andzhich said...I believe, when installing into PDB, unlocking Anonymous user inside PDB won't help, you need to do it at the CDB level to access apex.
Andrii said...Hi Tim, thank you for great post, unfortunately there is a little problem. After unlocking ANONYMOUS account it's remaining is state "EXPIRED" that's why in browser pop up authentication window on the " xdb " server. To fix it on CDB container should be executed command :
ALTER USER ANONYMOUS IDENTIFIED BY VALUES 'S:000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000' CONTAINER=ALL;
I've edited the article to set a random password.
Tommy said...Hi, nice collection of installation how-tos.
Unfortunately I did not find the solution of my question: having Apex 18.2 running on EPG, how can I add https access?
Is there any way to store and use a certificate?
Or should I install Apache in front and forward everything through it?
Thank you very much!
EPG can use HTTPS
I would not recommend it. It's better to front APEX with ORDS, either in standalone mode, or with ORDS on Tomcat.
Tommy said...Thank you very much Tim.
I thought about running https on 443. This application will always run internally and will never be exposed to the internet. Therefore, EPG is the easiest setup for me.
But meanwhile I found out that there are more obstacles. How to get a trusted certificate, when certification authority cannot reach the machine to test its identity. I have no solution for this yet.
