If it's working, that's fine. I would normally expect them to exchange both ways, but it's a while since I've used this method, as I now use Native Network Encryption for all connections.

- Check host exists.
- Check listener is running on host.
- Check listener is listening on the port you are using in the tnsping.
- Check service you are using is present on the listener.
