Hi,Tim

First of all i w'd like to thank u for ur great efforts which were (and still) very useful for oracle Developers and DBA's
second i have a problem in starting or managing Reports servers in version 12c, i followed up all of the instructions but (ohs instance) can't be started.

Hi.

Check the OHS logs and see what it is failing on. Best guess, the node manager is not running. If so, stop everything, start the node manager, start forms and reports. Start the OHS.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for all this; it has been very useful for me !
I used your startup & shutdow commands -> I put that in a .sh script. But WLS asks me for the NodeManager password each time (while I need to achieve startups and shutdowns silently). Is there a way to handle / pass the password to the scripts ?
Thanks a lot in advance ! :-)

Hi.

Sounds like something has gone wrong. :)

Reset your password by editing the "nm_password.properties" file. Delete what is in there and enter the following, adjusted to use your preferred username and password.

username=????
password=????

When you restart the node manager, this will be hashed, so it will not be exposed.

Cheers

Once again thanks a lot Tim !
I have tried that without any success; and after 2 hours, I have found that it was the ohs asking for the credentials.. :-(
Therefore, used the storeUserConfig option and everything works perfectly now !
Cheers !

Hi.

OK. That's interesting. I've not seen this myself. Thanks for the feedback though. I will know what to do if I see it. :)

Thanks a lot for sharing Your experiences ...

But, may I ask a question which was rejected from oracle?: How do You install dozens of FR Domains without having the possibility of a silent install? Do You really install each domain by using the GUI?

best regards
Robert

Hi.

The answer I got from Oracle, is you should build it all using WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST). I use WLST for normal domain builds, but I'm not confident about doing it for Forms!

Hi Tim

Is there any advantage in not installing the node manager component like you did here?

I installed it first like you did but then couldn't get the nodemanager password to reset and work.

So I did the install again and selected node manager. I've got a single application server and a single database server so just wondering what the optimal install is.

thanks
David

Hi.

I didn't "Not install it". I chose not to alter the default configuration. You should be able to start the node manager and change the password without reinstalling. :)

During the installation there is an opition about RCU Data, and it is mandatory. Do you know what for it is? I plan to migrate Oracle F&R from ver 11 to ver 12?

Tim... said...

Hi.

In FMW 11g the RCU was optional. In 12c it is mandatory for most products.

You shoud notice that during installation it is neccessary "fmw_12.2.1.2.0_infrastructure_Disk1_1of1.zip", special WebLogic version for Oracle Forms and Reports.
It is not working with stardard WebLogic package fmw_12.2.1.2.0_wls_Disk1_1of1.zip.

Hi.

If you look at the linked article for the installation you will see that is what I use. You are looking at an article that is partway through a chain of posted expecting it to repeat everything that is said in the previous articles...

Tim do you know how to migrate RCU to another database? I'm affraid that some informations in RCU schemas are associate with database hostname or name ex: DEV_STB.COMPONENT_SCHEMA_INFO.
I plan to migrate RCU schemas via dpump tool to another server without creating the new domain.

Tim... said...

Hi.

I've never done this. I build new and migrate the forms only. It's a good opportunity to clean things up. Search on MOS for details.
