Comments for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) : Create a Compute VM

Anonymous said...

Hi,

I'm trying to create the Compute instance with below requirements.
-- 2 node cluster
-- 1 LB
-- Active-passive (not Active-active)

Can you suggest how can we achieve this ?

Regards,
Sarah

Hi.

The Oracle Cloud doesn't appear to support active/passive in its load balancer. It just has round-robin, sticky sessions, or least connections, so it doesn't look like you can do this with the service.

Hi.

I was wrong. If you create the load balancer, once it is working you can change the weight of the members in the "backend set", so the traffic preferentially goes to one node. This effectively makes it active/passive.
