Comments for Oracle 10g Release 2 Grid Control Installation On Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS
Rob Silver said...This is torture you say in your 10g docs that you must have gcc-2.96 and I can not find it anywhere?
Can you please help me locate this package!
Please ask technical questions in the forum!
The version you will use depend on the update version of the OS you use. There may be some minor version differences between updates/respins of the same major version number. Look on your Red Hat disks in the RedHat/RPMS directories for the package.
These are the recommendations in the Oracle installation guide.

GaryT said...Why does your 'Start Everything' script call 'lsnrctl start' and then 'dbstart', when the supplied dbstart script in 10g Release 2 already starts the listener?
Tim... said...Whoops! This is a throwback to the release 1 installation, which used a 9i database for the repository.
I'll fix it now.

Nav said...Nice one Tim, a lot of people have struggled with this installation. I've used your guide and done a very clean install on a 32bit virtual machine and it works well although a little slow.
King said...Hi Tim,
can you also provide the steps to Install OEM GC through silent mode on CUI mode for Linux.
I checked the Oracle documentation its kinda too complex for me :).
any help would be appreciated.
Stuart said...Hi Tim,
Did you try installing EM 12c on Centos?
I've tried a few times with 64-bit Centos 5.5, and 5.7, but the installer dies when it hits 20%. Keep getting "Control should never come here". Just wondering if you had done a successful install.
No. I only do installations on Oracle Linux these days. It's free and supported, so I don't really see the point in using CentOS for Oracle stuff now.
chetan said...Hi Tim,
I have installed successfully 10gRelease2 Gridcontorl on Redhat Linux as mentioned in your doc.
Now I am trying to upgrade it to 10gRelease 5 through gui by using the patch directory 3731793, it works well upto one off patch but gets error while upgrading OMS.
Do you have any document which can be used directly after installation of 10gR2 grid control to upgrade to 10gRelease 5 grid contr
This article shows how I did an clean install of 10.2.0.5, which involves an install of the base release, followed by the patch upgrade.
