lesio said...Finally Rac on Windows :). Great article.
Pedro said...Very good the article. One question... Setup of Oracle Grid and Database running in two server?, or one server?
It's running on a single server using VirtualBox to create 2 VMs (2 RAC nodes) and the virtual shared disks.

Avinash Kulkarni said...How to create DBA directories in this setup?
Your question is too vague. What sort of directories? Please start a thread in the forum to ask this, not in the article comments.
Imtiaz Ahmed said...Very nice document. I really appreciate.

scan ip range, scan name and public ip everything correct still i am getting this error. why?
I don't know. Try running cluvfy utility. If you have any more questions, please ask them in the forum, not the comments.
Nait said...Is it possible to use usual windows 7,8(professional) instead of Windows 2008?
Nait said...I mean - is it possible to use windows 7,8 as host OS for demo Oracle RAC installation on Red hat(or Oracle Linux).
Yes. There are plenty of people that do this type of installation using Windows as the host. I never use Windows as my host though.
Nait said...Thanks for your works!
I used this article for RAC installation.
Host os Win8 Professional :) and 2 RHEL5.8 as RAC nodes.
Some commands should run in quotes:
"D:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage" createhd --filename asm4.vdi --size 5120 --format VDI --variant Fixed
"D:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage" storageattach rac1 --storagectl "SATA" --port 1 --device 0 --type hdd --medium asm1.vdi --mtype shareable
Rakesh said...Nice article but do i need to install oracle grid to stamp shared drives(just confused)
No. The tool is in the installation media, so you can do it without installing.
Beneen said...I am getting an error in the second step of Grid Installation as Duplicate host names identified in Node Information table...Please advise on this.
Sounds like you have no renamed your second VM properly. Make sure you correct both the network adapters and the machine name so they are consistent.
