Hello
Im installing oracle 11gr2 on rhel7, as you mentioned the error of file linking and provided the solution too... Eventually it worked! :D
Now im facing another issue of makefile, it says something like "error invoking in makefile" something like that... how ever i have installed makefile from rhel7 binaries dvd

Hi.

Sounds like you missed some of the prerequisites.

Remember, it's not supported, so don't use it for something real.

If you are encountering error in invoking target 'agent nmhs' of makefile, refer to the link https://community.oracle.com/thread/3650826

Hi Tim/Others,

Can anybody help me out with the list of issues faced during and after installation of 11.2.0.4 on OL7/RHEL 7.

We have an new build project, So just want to know can i recommended the 11.2.0.4 on RHEL 7(because in future i may need to upgrade db to 12C).

The installation on OL7 is now supported by Oracle, so you can use that now. It installs OK for me, as you can see in the guide. If you have issues, they should really be raised with Oracle Support.

12c can run on OL6 or OL7, so a move to OL7 is not a mandatory prerequisite.

We are planning to use RHEL 7 but not OLE 7.
So does the same steps to be followed for RHEL 7.

Do we need to take care any other points.

Preethi

Hi.

The certification matrix in MOS says RHEL7 is certified for 12.1.0.2 normal and RAC installations.

But it also says that

Oracle Real Application Clusters 11.2.0.4.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

So we are planning to install and build 11.2.0.4 oracle RAC on RHEL 7.

Preethi

Hi.

11.2.0.4 RAC is also certified on RHEL7. You could actually log in to MOS and check the certification matrix for yourself!

The commands to stop the firewall are incorrect. For CentOS7 try:

service firewalld stop
chkconfig firewalld off

Tim... said...

Hi.

Nearly. It should be, the following, but your method would work because of the backwards compatibility built into systemd.

# systemctl stop firewalld
# systemctl disable firewalld

It's a dodgy copy/paste from an old article. Fixed now.

Hello,

i encountered the 'agent nmhs' error and managed to fixed with -lnnz11.
but i wonder what is -lnnz11, and why by adding -lnnz11, the error could be fixed? can somebody explain?

Regards,

Jerry

Hi.

It just tells the linker not to worry if that dependency is missing.
