I think 2012 was about the most depressing film I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve seen it described as Disaster Porn, and that seems a pretty accruate description. If I were being generous I would say the special effects were quite impressive, but I really think my life would have been better if I had never seen this film.
There was of course a bit of Hollywood cheese in there, to try and give you a warm and fuzzy fealing, but I would suggest if you come out of that film feeling warm and fruzzy you really need therapy.
The only way it coul dhave been worse is if it had been Armageddon or Independence Day…
Please, do yourself a favor and don’t go to see it. I think I may have to go an see New Moon to clear head. I’m sure that will be so bad I will be able to forget about 2012 for good.

And some of the special effects are so badly scaled! I mean: the dome of St.Peter’s is soooo much smaller than the square itself! I suspect the centre portion of an aircraft carrier is not larger than the entire White House and surrounding gardens, but I’ve never been there so can’t comment…

I would recommend Ninja Assassin instead. An action packed martial arts flick that was thrilling to watch in spite of the gore involved.
